The MemoryInfo app shows how much memory is available and the types of memory on your iPhone or iPod Touch.It also shows your current battery level in percent.The iPhone and iPod Touch comes with 128MB of runtime memory while the iPhone 3GS comes with 256MB of runtime memory. That is different from the 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of storage memory that the iPhone or iPod Touch has. The iPhone and iPod Touch does not use the storage memory as virtual memory, so the memory available for applications is limited to the 128-256MB of runtime memory. The 128-256MB of RAM has to be shared with many system processes. This leaves only about 30-40MB for applications and about 128MB on the 3GS.The total of all types of memory shown is less than 128MB or 256MB on the 3GS as the rest of the memory is used by the video processor and kernel drivers.Native iPhone/iPod Touch applications such as the iPhone dialer, iPod and Mail can remain running even though you have closed them.This leaves any remaining memory available to non-native iPhone/iPod applications such as this application. This remaining memory can change and can affect the performance of applications, sometimes even causing the applications to close unexpectedly.
